I’ve been working with Cartland Promotions for more than fourteen years now – both directly and on some projects through M-Y Books who are in the process of producing new Ebook editions of Dame Barbara’s complete works. That’s 723 books in total!
Working with Dame Barbara’s son Ian McCorquodale, I take two or three titles a month and check/edit the text that results from scanning the original printed novels. The quality of the raw text varies considerably and the scanning process introduces glitches and ‘junk’ text – so they need careful proof-reading as well as some gentle editing and updating words and phrases here and there that I don't feel are appropriate for a 21st century readership.
I’ve mainly worked on novels in English – but have covered quite a few in Spanish from time to time. As part of the process I write a new synopsis for each title and generate SEO keywords. So far I’ve completed over 400 books – so there are still plenty to be getting on with!
Having written a new synopsis for each title, I write a punchier version for social media use and work with the social media team on monthly posts with topical or seasonal themes to promote the latest releases.
